Construction of the Solar Go-Kart starts
This is what the go kart looked like when we first got it. It is a pre-owned 1981 Honda Odyssey, rusted, abused after 12 years out in the cold.
Day 1 of refurbishing the go cart. Lots of sanding, cleaning, brushing, ...
Day 2. Lots more elbow grease.
Lots of data collection, Schematics were drawn since original documentation of "wheel chair" being dissected to salvage motor, charge controller, whatever, for use on the solar go kart was not available. These are electronics engineering students.
Resurrecting the dead. Notice the rust. However, the students were able to salvage all of the electronics. Something about necessity being the mother of invention.
The school newspaper heard of our project and came by to do a story on us. The photographer wants to join the engineering class next semester.
Notice the little boy in the background. Joey is a second grader in one of the elementary schools near Pueblo. Joey is a proud member of our after school robotics and ham radio club. He is learning electronics right alongside the Pueblo students and is a voting member of the club.
The Club is based upon the Delivering Happiness principles. #1: Be humble. #2: Do more with less. #3: Hard work and established core values are all that is needed to begin the road to success.
Students have read the book and are becoming living proof that somethings are inherently good, and honest and right.
